I have got two different favorite Musems in Buenos Aires, one ist Spanish Art Museum Enrique Larreta in Belgrano Neighbourhood and the other is this one, The “Fernandez Blanco”.
I have started my cultural activities there and it is always for me a fabolous new experience.

Next I will give you some details about the Museum. It has an spiritual atmosphere a superlative cultural agenda and very
Beautiful spanish Gardens. Arts, Nature and Peace in one place.

The Isaac Fernández Blanco Museum offers a thorough overview of South American Cultural environments, whose confluence contributed to the formation of the first Argentine identity.
The Museum is named alter Isaac Fernández Blanco, who created and donated the Basic Collection of the Museum Heritage. Since 1947 the Museum has had its SEAT at the Neocolonial Noel Palace , with was built by architect Martin Noel in 1922.

The Isaac Fernández Blanco Spanish- American Art Museum displays excellent exhibitions ot the arts developed in the Colonial times. Its collections of viceregal silverware outnumbers any other public Collection in the South Cone. It has 17 th to 19 th Century Works created at the most well-know South American silver Workshops. It also exhibit an exclusive Collection of European Pieces, which entered out territory during the Colonial Period.
The Museum’s Painting Heritage is the most complete in the City of Buenos Aires. Outstanding samples of Cuzco, the Potosi, the Mexican, the Titicaca Lake Schools as well as paintings created in the Argentine territory are part of the Collection.
Besides, there are more than 250 samples of Colonial religious images made in wood, alabaster and ivory. It is worth highlighting other artistic expressions as the Baroque pieces of the forniture, as well as the extensive Collection of religious ornaments, pottery, numismatics, engravings, jewelry and books.


At the present time, there is an exhibition of “ Guido Boggiani “ presented by Curators Leila Makarius ,Patricio López Méndez , and
Gustavo Tudisco.It is related to Photografies taked in the last Century to the “Chamacocos”, Native Inhabitants of “The Gran Chaco”, in the Nord of Argentina and in the Edge with Paraguay and Bolivia.


The Exhibition will continue untill March 7th, 2010.

It is now 10 years, since World Textile Art ( WTA) started to develop the International Textile Arts Fairs.
In this fifth Edition Buenos Aires is the top scenario till April 25th there will be different exhibitions of local and international artists.

Special Lecture at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes
On Tuesday March 17 th, 7 PM
Under the Patronage of Istituto Italiano di Cultura

On February 20 th, 1909, on French newspaper Le Figaro appeared the first “Futurism Manifest” written by Filippo Tommasso Marinetti.

Marinetti, a poet, created a Vanguard trying to make a break with the past and the old traditions. The keys of Futurism ware the machines, the movements, the rapidity, the energy, all the time the look at the future and technological progress.

The Futurism, as a Vanguard Movement, took Literature and Visual Arts, and also has influences on Architecture and Music. The most prominent Italian artist of the time signed up the “ Manifesto” : Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carrà, Luigi Russolo and Gino Severini.

On the 100 Birthday of Futurism, Italy has started to celebrate, with different exhibition in Rome, Milano and Venetia.

Also in Buenos Aires, we will be able to see a panoramic exhibition of Futurism, on November at Foundation Proa.

At Larreta Museum in Belgrano - Splendorous Museum of Hispanic Art –



Have you ever imagine, in which way could an European imagine our “Pampa”?
How is his view ? His stereotypes? His fantasies and Thoughts ?

Museum Larreta offers you a Help.
Last Tuesday, there was the official Opening of Carlos Saenz de Tejada’s Painting and Watercolours, named “An unforgettable Vision of the Pampa”.
This collection was an special wish of Enrique Larreta who enquires Saenz de Tejada to make pictures to enlighten his novel “ Zogoibi”.

Zogoibi, a costumbrist novel is situated in La Pampa, to tell the story about an engaged man who fell in love with another woman ( a foreign one) , who after their short love story, left him alone.
The pictures, made in the 20’ have a strong influence of Art Déco. The figures are idealistic, thin and stylish.

The Exhibition is available until March 29 th.

This Thursday March 5 Th, Museo de la Ciudad will re-open its doors to show its restoration. At the same time there will be a Temporal Exhibition Art Opening.

The public will be able to make a visit in the whole building after the restoration works. The Museum has a very important Toy Collection, a Dinning Room of the 50's and a room for Musical Instruments. It could also be seen a City Doors Exhibitions and the new fronts of some of the most important buildings of the neighbourhood.

As temporal Exhibitions there will be one Art Opening dedicated to Argentine’s Fans of the 19 and 20th Century.

Quinquela Museum in La Boca

Last Friday I was at Quinquela Martin Fine Arts Museum in La Boca.

I must say it is beautiful place, enormous, sunny and the artworks inside are great.
They have picture from Argentine’s Masters and the second floor is dedicated to Quinquela’s Works. ( It was Quinquela’s House).
Between Argentine Painters are artworks from : Medilaharzu, Sivori, De la Carcova, Victorica, Lacámara, Castagnino and Soldi.

They also arrange temporary exhibitions of comtemporary Artists.
This month the special exhibition is "Eternal Femenine". A collection of differents
artworks, where the woman is in the center of the scene, as musa ,as subject, or as artist.

This Museum is full of surprises.
There is a beautiful terrace of sculptures, where you can find artworks from Yrrurtia
and Bonetti.
There is also a room dedicated to "Mascarones de proa".( They were figureheads in the corner of ships.)

And if you want to feel yourself as a captain you will enjoy looking from the terrace, the neighbourhood, the river , and La Boca Bridge through a panoramic viewer.

I will write on later, but if you don’t have enough pacience you have to go there, you would not regret it !

PROA - La Boca

It is well know that Fundación Proa has re-opened in La Boca.
The building is modern, with a lot of glass and white color.
When you look at the Riachuelo from Proa’s Terrase you would never realise that it is not a cleany river…..

They will make the second Art Opening after Duchamp’s Exhibition in the middle of March.
There is an important Art Biblioteque opened for the public , when I was there, it was full with Art Students and ordinary people who wanted to get infos about Fine Arts.


The Restaurant and Caffè are closed untill 10 th March, due to architectural works in the building.

Amalia Fortabat Art Collection - Puerto Madero

Hello Everybody,

A lot of days without writing, it is because I was busy, visiting Museums and temporal expositions. Summertime in Buenos Aires has also some interesting Tipps.

Art Collection Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat. ( Olga Cosentini 141, Puerto Madero). The place has the glamour and exclusivity of her owner. I love this art collection. I must say I would have done the same choose as Mrs. Amalita has done, to make my own art collection.

The collection, ( it is not a Museum) has 4 axis :

- International Arts : Klimt, Pieter Brueghel II, and the first and only Turner of Latinamerica : Juliet and her Nurse , the vedette of the collection.

- Egypcian Antiques,

- Abstract Art and New Figurative Arts from Argentina ( Gorriarena, Garcia Uriburu, Macciò ( I love “ Puente de los suspiros”), Peres Celis, Noe, and other prominents as Carlos Alonso.

- The city and the Landscape: Art Works from Prilidiano Pueyrredón, Blanes, Thibon de Livian, Fader.

There are also a Berni’s Corner and Soldi’s Gallery.

Arte Europeo del Siglo XX en Buenos Aires

La semana pasada ha sido bastante activa en lo que hace al intercambio y puente cultural entre Buenos Aires y Europa, dado que los principales Museos de Buenos Aires han dado la bienvenida a dos muestras fabulosas del arte de nuestro tiempo.

El martes 7 de octubre en el Museo de Arte Hispanoamericano Isaac Fernández Blanco se inauguró la Muestra Fotográfica del artista Josef Sudek, con auspicio de la Embajada de la República Checa.
La exhibición reúne más de 50 fotografías del artista, comenzando por los primeros árboles de Ciudad y paisajes retratados en la década del 20, pasando por fotografías de frutas y los memorables atardeceres y otoños que el fotógrafo toma a partir de 1950.
Josef Sudek, fue Fundador del Fotoklub Praga e incorporó los conceptos de la Nueva Objetividad en su fotografía publicitaria, campo en el que logró enormes reconomientos en su país y región vecina.

En lo personal admiré las fotografías como la elegida para ilustrar el blog, que es denominada “fotografía subjetiva de postguerra”. El Romanticismo y misterio de las tomas sobra las islas Tya, Eslava y similares, así como las fotografías de bosques y jardines, reflejan nostalgia y belleza, al igual que la fotografía “La última rosa” ( 1959) , tomada desde la ventana de su Estudio que ilustra todas y cada una de las imágenes de esta muestra.

La misma con Curaduría del Lic. Jorge Cometti, estará abierta al público hasta el 7 de diciembre, no puedo dejar de señalar que en el art opening los invitados brindamos con típica cerveza checa del estilo Pilsen.



Arte Italiano en el Bellas Artes.
Viaje en el Arte Italiano , 1950 – 1980

Aunque debo manifestar que afortunadamente se pueden apreciar importantes creaciones del 2006 inclusive !

Con auspicio del Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores de la Embajada de Italia y el Istituto Italiano de Cultura el día jueves 9 de octubre se ha inaugurado la muestra “ Viaje en el Arte italiano, 1950-1990 “ con curaduría internacional, en el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Av. Del Libertador 1473.

La muestra que se exhibe al público pertenece a la Colección Farnesina y se trata citando a su curador “de un conjunto de experiencias que redescubriendo el Futurismo de Marinetti y la Metafísica de De Chirico, se movieron también gracias a esas referencias hacía resultados inéditos y fundamentales”.

Las obras entre otros de Burri, Vedova y Fontana, son mostradas en dialogo con las obras de arte existentes en la Cancillería Argentina.

Personalmente atrajeron mi atención :
- Mare orizzontale, 1978 de Fabrizio Plessi, una instalación de hierro, madera que muestra dos pantallas de video en cubos con imágenes y sonidos del mar.
- Gran disegnio siamese, 2003, Omar Galeani, donde hay dos imágenes como en espejo dibujadas en lápiz y sobre madera.
- Color vs BW, 2006, Maurizio Carnavaccioulo, una obra espectacular de fotografías y tinta china, con rayos de dorado y rojo, donde se pueden apreciar entre otros motivos: 1 general chino, un bebé, una bailarina, un caballo, todo en un caos.
- De Caelo, 2005, de Guiseppe Gallo, olio sobre tela, donde se presenta como una sopa de letras con letras de molde, sobre un fondo blanco que parece madera.
- Utupia 3, 2004 de Salvatorio Pulverenti, donde se representan distintas escenas en óleo sobre tela, siendo el eje del cuadro la aparición de tres tortugas.
- Il tiempo é giunto , 1994, de Stefano de Stasio, donde en dos cuadros el autor refleja la soledad que produce el desamor y el deseo de su búsqueda, dado que el hombre retratado lleva en sus manos una linterna.
- Profetti e Apostoli, 1968, de Emilio Isgró, que representa un libro tachado en teca de madera y plexiglás. Actualmente perteneciente al Koninkklijke, Museo de Bellas Arte de Bruselas.


Dieron el presente en este art opening los principales referentes del arte visual argentino : Marta Minujín, Eduardo Plá, la señora Nelly Arieta de Blaquier, el Canciller Jorge Taiana y numerosos Embajadores europeos.
El catering, superlativo en dulces , fue siempre correcto.
La muestra permanecerá abierta al público hasta el 9 de noviembre.
La entrada al Museo es libre y gratuita.

Día de la Hispanidad

Dicen que no existen las casualidades y si las causalidades, por ello no es casual que el día domingo 12 de octubre se me haya ocurrido volver a visitar el Museo de Arte Español Enrique Larreta, ubicado en Belgrano.

La casa que hoy alberga al Museo fue residencia del escritor Larreta y su familia, hasta la muerte de este en 1961, y fue construida por el arquitecto Ernesto Bunge.
Su estilo es enteramente español y refleja los distintos estilos artísticos que convivieron en la península.

Es de destacar que la obra cumbre de Larreta, La gloria de Don Ramiro, sea el eje central de disposición del Museo y que las prolijas ilustraciones de Alejandro Sirio representen a Don Ramiro, Beatriz, Aixa y Santa Rosa de Lima, en todas las salas de la Casa.

El museo es rico en Imaginería, mobiliario, piezas de arte, utensilios y anécdotas de la España del Siglo XVI, donde convivían el mundo castellano y el moro, las formas moriscas y el arte flamenco traído por Carlos V y exhibido por su hijo Felipe II.

Los ambientes tienen la luminosidad necesaria y están sabiamente musicalizados, es de destacar la influencia de Oriente en los baños principales de la casa.

La visita termina con un paseo relajante por los jardines del Museo, de inspiración morisca, donde se encuentran árboles como el Ginkgo Bilova y algunas especies de Oceanía.

Actualmente en el Jardín, están expuestas las obras de la 17. Edición de la Muestra “Esculturas en el Jardín”, que exhibe casi 30 obras de arte contemporáneo pensadas y diseñadas para ser expuestas en ese marco.

En otra oportunidad les escribiré mis impresiones, desde ya recomiendo ir a hamacarse con los “niños pájaros”.

El día domingo 3 de agosto a las 16.30 se realizará oficialmente el acto de celebración por la restauración de la Basílica y asimismo se conmemorará el primer año del hallazgo de la caja del historiador austríaco Vögelle, para lo cual se darán cita la Sra. Embajadora de Austria, Dra. Gudrun Graff y autoridades de la Embajada de Italia dado que la restauración fue obra conjunta de ambas representaciones.

La Fundación Música de Cámara dirigida por el Maestro Opitz,promueve y difunde desde hace 25 años los jóvenes talentos en música y cantantes líricos.

Ciclo de Lecturas en el Malba

Los Lunes 28 de julio, 25 de agosto, 29 de setiembre y 13 de octubre a las 19 hs SE desarrollará el ciclo LA VOZ PROPIA , en el Auditorio del Malba, con entrada libre y gratutita.

De Junio a Octubre Malba.Literatura organiza cinco encuentros que tendrán como invitados a tres reconocidos escritores argentinos cada vez de distinta generaciones. En cada encuentro los autores leerán textos propios seleccionados para esa ocasión y conversarán sobre sus obras bajo la moderación de Carlos Gamerro.

Museo Larreta has 3 new Exhibition Rooms

This Saturday I was Museo de Arte Español Enrique Larreta in my neighbourhood, Belgrano.
The Museum has re- opened at Mitday, 3 new exhibition rooms, which have been re-estructured.
Together with this, we have seen the opening: "Miguel de Molina - El rey de la copla".

It was made in colaboration with Museo del Cine Pablo Ducrós Hicken , because this year it woul be celebrated, the 100 Miguel de Molina’ s Anniversary.

Tarsila Do Amaral - Art Exhibition in MALBA MUSEUM

TARSILA, Pictures for Children.

Tarsila do Amaral is considered one of the most representatives artist of South America in XX Century. She becomes a symbol of Latin America more “Politics concious” Generation.

Her works make a voyage between diferent Arts Tendences and Art Influences, with strong european liasons but always reminding the “brasilian fascination”.

Tarsila do Amaral was born in 1886, in Capivari (Sao Paulo), with her wealthy family she lived a childhood which was paradoxal.
In the middle of the brasilian jungle, in daily contact with wild nature and poor people, she wore clothes and used instruments boughts in Europe, as well as she studied French Literature and Piano Lessons.

At 16th. , she traveled to Barcelona, to study Literature.After her divorce, and with a little child, she discovered her love to Painting, trying Landscapes and Nature Pictures.

In France she was Student of Émile Renard, in this period she painted : A Espanhola (Paquita) and she enjoyed great success being member of Brasilian Intelectual and Art Milieu, with her acquitances from “Revista Klaxon”: Oswald, Mário, Menotti Del Picchia, Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, Graça Aranha.
Tarsila, with Oswald, Menotti, Mário de Andrade e Anita Malfatti, maked the “ Grupo dos Cinco”.
She was introduced to Picasso, Fernand Léger e André Lothe, De Chirico, Stravinsky, André Breton and Blaise Cendrars.
Her pictures were described as “ LIVE YELLOW, LILA-ROSE,PURE BLUE, SINGING GREEN”.

MUSEUM MALBA, Contantini Foundation has one of the most representatives works of TARSILA : Abaporu, which means: “Man who eats human flesh”.
This time MALBA MUSEUM shows the EXHIBITION “TARSILA VIAJERA” , a selection of 80 works, which is focused in the first travels of the artist.

Fiesta Barroca en Italia - Baroque Celebration in Italy

IT CONTINUES TILL 25. MAY !!

This project searchs to re-create in modern men eyes, a part of the past which is vanished and only could be brought back to life through Paint and at the Arts Milieu.
The gorgeous costumes for the important ceremonies at Italian Courts of XVII Century, are showed at this exhibition making a reconstruction from that antique and amazing world.
The exhibition shows the current observers the paramount of Italian Culture.

The National Museum of Decorative Arts, is located at the Errázuriz Alvear Palace, of french neoclassical style.
