Zeit lose Kunst*

Last week I was at a vernissage at Laura Haber Art Gallery. It was an exhibition of Enio Iommi`s Students.

At Iommi’s words Safety at Arts is a dangerous thing . Artists must move their energies to find their passion and identity to start creating. Contemporary Art is related to Contemporary Life and the Artists should put their own poetry in art-ideas.

From the whole exhibition I want to mention:

“Pasión Latina”, Artwork made by bones, plastic and flowers from artist Laura Vieyra.

“The way to Liberation”, Artwork made of wire and plastic by artist and architect Rosa Wolkowsky.

To finish I will thank Marité Ponisio who gave me the inspiration for the title of this note.

* German for : Only Art goes beyond Time.

Textile Art

Once again I have learned something which makes me renew my feelings, knowledge and convictions. More even when I have to write all this in English and the etymology of the language is so different:

At English Language “Textile”: not as cloth but as web.
With these three letters (symbols) I don’t have to explain so much.
At the Latin Language “ textere” : transmission.

Curator Florencia Battiti took also this idea to explain her curatorial axis at Palais de Glace. At the beginning of the exhibition a big glassbox with capital letters in the inside whose characters were filled with condoms making the word survive. This idea continued with clothes specially designed for dangerous conditions and the end a small tent connected with the others under the title: connected to survive.

The whole exhibition attemps to explain the internal and eternal connection between cloth and messages, cloth and history, cloth and human life.

Of this exhibition I have to mention :

Paraguayan Artist Feliciano Centurion’s Artwork made by bedclothes and crochet style and Natalia Rizzo ( Argentine Artist) who made an interesting scenario of life and death, and the movement of times inspired in Mexican Idea of Death, Dream and Memory , and childhood tales.

Gallery Nights 2009 !

Last Friday we have met at the first tour for Gallery Nights 2009 !

We have visited Carlos Regazzoni’s Atelier and we got news of his special kind of Arts made by trains-parts and old elements related to Train Stations and garbish, it is important not to forget that Regazzoni’s Atelier is in the outside of Retiro Train Station.
Then we continued to Zurbaran Art Gallery and we could meet Master Gyula Kosice face to face. The Gallery exhibits the new Kosice’s artworks related to water and new technologies.
We also visited RO ART GALLERY where there was the exhibition FEMENINOPLURAL regarding to Buenos AiresTextil Art Fair 2009.
To end our hightlights we have visited AGALMA ART GALLERY to see the exhibition “ Magia” of artist Anahí Roitman, who makes her artworks colorfull and modern.
Last but not least Buenos Aires Lawyers Association has made its first attemp at Gallery Nights with the exhibition “ Vivencias”, artworks from Susana Bonnet Murray, based on her trips around Europe.

It is now 10 years, since World Textile Art ( WTA) started to develop the International Textile Arts Fairs.
In this fifth Edition Buenos Aires is the top scenario till April 25th there will be different exhibitions of local and international artists.

It was very lucky last Tuesday, because I have discovered an interesting place where it is possible to enjoy wine, to see arts and to meet new people.
Under the patronage of Terroir Expression Winemakers, Casa de Artistas showed a new Photobook of photoartist Vanesa Tapertte.Vanesa Tappertte is Photographer and Graphic Designer. With an independent View, not nostalgic, not turistic, she searches hidden places, moments, days and places in their own time.
The Photos with digital and analogical technology are made on black and white.

Special Lecture at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes
On Tuesday March 17 th, 7 PM
Under the Patronage of Istituto Italiano di Cultura

On February 20 th, 1909, on French newspaper Le Figaro appeared the first “Futurism Manifest” written by Filippo Tommasso Marinetti.

Marinetti, a poet, created a Vanguard trying to make a break with the past and the old traditions. The keys of Futurism ware the machines, the movements, the rapidity, the energy, all the time the look at the future and technological progress.

The Futurism, as a Vanguard Movement, took Literature and Visual Arts, and also has influences on Architecture and Music. The most prominent Italian artist of the time signed up the “ Manifesto” : Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carrà, Luigi Russolo and Gino Severini.

On the 100 Birthday of Futurism, Italy has started to celebrate, with different exhibition in Rome, Milano and Venetia.

Also in Buenos Aires, we will be able to see a panoramic exhibition of Futurism, on November at Foundation Proa.

Günter Grass "The Halibut Exhibition"

Günter Grass’s Exhibition – Official Opening on March 4th –


Available till 28 th March at Clásica y Moderna.


On March 4 th at Clásica y Moderna Books Shop, I could attend to the official opening of Günter Grass’ Exhibition “The Halibut”, an exhibition of 25 pictures in lithography of the German writer and Nobel Price.

Mr. Hernán Lombardi, Minister of Culture at Buenos Aires Government, opened the event remembering his reading about Grass and talking about the importance of Books Shops as a tradition of Buenos Aires.
A moment later, Carlos Clerici, a well known journalist and a “voice” of Buenos Aires Radio Shows read the first chapter of “The Halibut”, and also commented about the coordination of arts, literature and foods in Grass’s Roman and the mix that we felt at Clásica y Moderna, a Book Shop, Art Place, Musical Place and Restaurant of Buenos Aires.

At the end we enjoyed the charming champagne Freixenet.

Our Pampa from an European View

At Larreta Museum in Belgrano - Splendorous Museum of Hispanic Art –



Have you ever imagine, in which way could an European imagine our “Pampa”?
How is his view ? His stereotypes? His fantasies and Thoughts ?

Museum Larreta offers you a Help.
Last Tuesday, there was the official Opening of Carlos Saenz de Tejada’s Painting and Watercolours, named “An unforgettable Vision of the Pampa”.
This collection was an special wish of Enrique Larreta who enquires Saenz de Tejada to make pictures to enlighten his novel “ Zogoibi”.

Zogoibi, a costumbrist novel is situated in La Pampa, to tell the story about an engaged man who fell in love with another woman ( a foreign one) , who after their short love story, left him alone.
The pictures, made in the 20’ have a strong influence of Art Déco. The figures are idealistic, thin and stylish.

The Exhibition is available until March 29 th.

Museo Ciudad de Buenos Aires Re-Opening

This Thursday March 5 Th, Museo de la Ciudad will re-open its doors to show its restoration. At the same time there will be a Temporal Exhibition Art Opening.

The public will be able to make a visit in the whole building after the restoration works. The Museum has a very important Toy Collection, a Dinning Room of the 50's and a room for Musical Instruments. It could also be seen a City Doors Exhibitions and the new fronts of some of the most important buildings of the neighbourhood.

As temporal Exhibitions there will be one Art Opening dedicated to Argentine’s Fans of the 19 and 20th Century.

Much Ado about Nothing -

– VIDEOINSTALLATION AT ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE-

Last Wednesday I was at an interesting videoinstallation at Alliance Française in Buenos Aires, it was “MARCOS ZAPATA FLINK PERFORMANCE”.
The performance has shown 6 video screens in front of other 6 video screens.

In the first group the 6 video screens shows the face and the body of the main character of this Art Work: the actor Marcos Zapata Flink. In his performance he spoke about every simple topic, which we, Argentines, here talk about.
In front of him, and thought the other group of 6 video screens a group of artist, journalist, intellectual and everyday people were looking, listening and analyzing. Many of them also smile.
At the end the whole group talked about Marco’s point of view and behaviour.
In these 15 minutes they started to act and to behave as Marcos.
They repeated the same topics, and the same behaviour they have seen from Marcos. And the end they smile.


“ Everyone can be Marcos” or “ Cual es la propuesta ? , mucho ruido y pocas noeces” was name this interesting video installation performed totally in English and with subtitles in Spanish , and it was a creation from Marta Armengol Pujol ( Spain) and Lisa Truttmann ( Austria) .


This activity was under the Patronage of the Embassy of Austria and at the end we have enjoyed a cocktail with Madame Ambassador and the ministers of this Embassy.
